Just a Little Something for my Friends

Here is a thread list I made to use with Block 2 of the SweetPea Haunted House Quilt Blocks. This is the replacement block list. They reissued the block on 8/24/22 and this list is for that block. It will not work for the original block.

As the blocks come out, I will try to add the lists here.

I didn’t create one for the first block and had a difficult time keeping things in order. It didn’t have nearly as many changes. When I go back and create it, I will post it here.

ITH A Simple Square Mug Rug

4×4 and 5×7 hoop designs

I created this simple in the hoop coaster so that I could use the fabric I like for the design. Then I thought, ‘Hey, I could make a video and give this to anyone that wants it!’

I like giving people things they can use. It makes me feel good. So, I am uploading the instructions sheet with design to here and you can also watch the tutorial. Enjoy stitching out as many as you like.

Watch the tutorial on YouTube

You can sell the finished product, if you want, but please don’t sell the design. If someone wants it, you can give them the design with my blessing. It is here for anyone to use.

Cut for 4×4 hoop:

1 – 5” square of batting

1 – 5” square of background fabric

1 – 4.5” square fabric for center square

2 – 5” squares of fabric for back

Stabilizer of choice for hoop

Cut for 5×7 hoop:

1 – 6” square of batting

1 – 6” square of background fabric

1 – 5” square fabric for center square

2 – 6” squares of fabric for back

Stabilizer of choice for hoop

This design is completed in the hoop. After it is finished stitching out, you trim around the outer edge and turn right-side out.

  1. Load design into machine and pull up onto screen. Prepare hoop with stabilizer and put on machine.
  2. Double check that design fits inside of hoop you are using.
  3. The first line stitched is for placement of batting and background fabric. Stitch this out.
  4. Lay batting down making sure to cover the complete box. Lay background fabric on top of batting – again making sure you are covering all stitches.
  5. Run next stitch – tack down stitch. It will stitch a single line for holding the batting and background fabric in place.
  6. Now, stitch the placement line for the inner box.
  7. Remove hoop and place fabric for inner box – covering all stitches for inner box.
  8. Place hoop back on machine and run tack down stitch for inner box.
  9. Take the 2 backing fabrics and fold in half. Finger press or iron flat. Place on hooped design, overlapping the center fold about ¼”. Put a small piece of tape over the center edges, so that it won’t get caught in the machine foot.

WARNING!!! Do not remove fabric from the hoop until the very end!

  1. Remove hoop and without removing fabric, trim batting close to stitch line and fabrics trim about ¼” away from stitch line. At corners, trim close to stitches through all layers. Remove all tape.
  2. At the fold overlap, reach in and pull right side out. Use something not too sharp to push the corners out – you don’t want to cut or tear the fabric with something sharp or too pointed.
  3. Iron flat.

You are done! Enjoy your mug rug (coaster)
